JESUS CULTURE

*Go into the depths of the plague
(Go and search for the lost, hurting, and broken)

*Take the fire
(we need to be burning with love for Jesus so hot it catches fire to all around us)

*Take the incense
(start a prayer meeting, if no one joins you stand in the Gap someone has to do something. God is our father and fathers can't help but act when their kids plead with them)

THE EFFECTIVE LIFE

2 Peter 1 v 1 - 11 reminds us of the life God has called us to live. On the solid foundation of our faith we should strive to add goodness, knowledge, self control, perseverance, godliness, kindness, and love.

Verse 8 If we possess these qualities we will be effective and produce good fruit for the kingdom.

Verse 10 So be even more EAGER (it doesnt matter how eager you think you are or your not) BE MORE EAGER to walk in what God has called you to, the small things and the great things, the easy things and the challenging things.

May your life be transformed more and more each day, into a channel for God to reach the world around you.

choices

We are faced with so many choices. How do we know if we’ve made the right decisions? By following this filtering process we can eliminate the choices that we should not pick.

1) WORD. Does t fit into the word of God? If it doesn’t you know this is not the right choice. We need the word of God in us to make the right choices. Psalm 119

2) WITNESS. Is there confirmation in your spirit that says it is a good choice? Does it feel right in your spirit to make this your decision? If it doesn’t feel right in your spirit this is not the option you should take. Romans 8 v 13

3) WEIGHT. Does it fire or fizz your passion? Is the choice giving you a deep passion and desire to do it or is it a choice that is just there and you are considering?

4) WIFE/HUSBAND/PARTNER. (NOT RELEVANT TO EVERYONE SO SKIP IF NOT RELEVANT TO YOU). What do they think about your choices? Is there a particular choice that they think will benefit and bless you more? What is God telling them is the right option for you?

5) WISDOM. We al have wise and trusting people we talk to. What do they think about your options? What do they consider to be your best option? They may think all your options are good for you which means you need to continue with this filtering process. (REMEMEBER NOT ALL UNGODLY ADVICE COMES FROM UNGODLY PEOPLE.) Proverbs 15 - 22

6) WAY. What way are you walking? Does this option fit with the way you are walking or does it distract you and take you away from your calling/ path God is leading you on.

7) WANT. What is it that you want? Is there a particular option that you truly desire more than another? God gives us the desires of our heart, so if one option stands out more to you then take that option.

8) WAIT & WELAX. If you have more than one option making it through each of the previous filters, just wait and relax. When the time is right you will know which option to take and the path God is taking you on.

If you choose between choices that made it through to filter 7 know that you will be blessed and have not missed you calling from God because either option is available to you to pick. God wants to give you what you want and will give you decisions to make that will direct you and draw you closer to God.

Which way do I go? If you listen and trust God he will lead you the right way no matter what decisions you have.

How Great Is Our God!

Spend a moment considering the imensely complexed and intricateness of creation...... not just limited to our small planet earth either.

In psalms it says that when God made the universe he breathed the stars out of his mouth.. and the earth could fit into some of the stars millions of times... God is pretty huge.... but creation is not just massive, it is so detailed.

God has everything carefully planned and made right down to the tiny cells that hold us together(Laminin - see pic below) Within our very makeup a sign of our need for Jesus dying to give us life.

The Mystery, Christ in you.

Colossians 1 v 27 To them God has chosen to make known.. the glorious riches of this mystery, which is christ in you, the hope of glory.

If we are called to live a pure holy life why do I always seem to fail?

Can you live a life that pleases God?
Can you set yourself rules and boundaries and stick to them?

If your anything like me then the answers no.

The foundation of our hope in life is the fact that Jesus died and was raised to life and now lives in all who accept him.... the glorius riches of this mystery.

With christ in us we have complete access to God and the fullness of an everyday relationship with him. READ colossians 2 v 9 - 3 v 17

The relationship with God and life with Jesus gives us a focus beyond this world and access to power and authority over everything in this world.
God ultimately knows the best thing in all situations and can help us through everything, as it says in colossians, set your heart and your mind on things above, where christ is seated at the right hand of God.

By having a life focused on heavenly things, it is hard to Sin. In Col ch2 v 23 it says that rules cannot restrain sensual indulgence, but a life lived constantly focused on God and walking with Jesus overcomes sin.

Its not that we keep breaking the rules that displeases God. Its that we want to live by the rules still, and not in relationship with God and the overcoming power of Christ in you the Hope and Glory.

God Space

Life is so crazily hectic and to be honest I've given up blaiming the days we live in. I think people have been real busy ever since adam an eve left the garden. We have so many things that make life easier and things quicker, but we just fill our time with other things.

This crazily hectic life so often prevents us having time just talking and listening to God. Even if I shut myself in my room the phone will ring or there be some distracting activity.

I reckon Jesus had the same problem, often you stop but crazily hectic life around you distracts you. I reckon thats why he always seemed to go up hills or into gardens to have some time alone with God. I tried doing this and its awesome! Try just going to a field or something away from everything and take some time alone with God, just to chat and listen with no distractions.

Be blessed :)

Words

James 1 v 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

God has called us to be a people set apart for him, too often we compromise and our lives are divided ‘Well I live for God some of the time’. God is calling us to be fully for him….. one thing he has been speaking to us about is the words we speak.

We have a choice to make, we can either allow our tongues to bring destructive words or constructive words. Think about what words have helped and encourage you as a person…..

James 3 v 5,6 In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.

We all have our weaknesses with our tongue, we have set ourselves a challenge to give our weakness over to God and allow him to change us. Pick a tongue weakness from the list below. Share your tongue challenge with a friend for accountability and help

Sarcasm
Gossip
Critiscism
Swearing
Complaining
Slagging off

Lets build each other up and encourage each other :-)

May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

The Friendship & the Fear…..

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . How is your relationship with God?
. . . . . . . . . . .How do you view God?

Do you speak to God regularly and share your life with him as a friend would do?

John 15 v 13,14 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.

Do you show respect, honour and live in awe of God and all he is?

Psalm 19
The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
They speak without a sound or word;
their voice is never heard.
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
and their words to all the world.
God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.
It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding.
It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.
The sun rises at one end of the heavens
and follows its course to the other end.
Nothing can hide from its heat.
The instructions of the LORD are perfect,
reviving the soul.
The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The commandments of the LORD are right,
bringing joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are clear,
giving insight for living.
Reverence for the LORD is pure,
lasting forever.
The laws of the LORD are true;
each one is fair.
They are more desirable than gold,
even the finest gold.
They are sweeter than honey,
even honey dripping from the comb.
They are a warning to your servant,
a great reward for those who obey them.
How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart?
Cleanse me from these hidden faults.
Keep your servant from deliberate sins!
Don’t let them control me.
Then I will be free of guilt
and innocent of great sin.
May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

Junkie meets Jesus in a Trash Can!

Don’t miss your opportunity to hear first hand Colin Garnett at Re-Mix
Tuesday 10th March 7:30pm

Junkie meets Jesus in a Trash Can
The amazing true story of a hardened drug addict's encounter with Jesus in a rubbish bin, in prison, and how that encounter changed his life.

Colin Garnett grew up in Stockport, South Manchester, in a tough working-class culture. A teenage involvement with alcohol, amphetamines and violence led to an adult heroin addiction. For many years he was lost in a crime-and-drugs lifestyle and did time in 27 different prisons. But on 17 June 1993, in a prison chapel, he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. From that moment God began to transform Colin’s life. He became a highly effective evangelist with a special ministry to those in prison and those trapped in drug addiction.

Does God exist? You decide....

You could find people that would argue for and against for their entire life. For me there are situations in mylife, and indesscribable truths about the universe that have led me into a relationship with God where he has personally revealed himself to me.

Just like we all live by the power of electricity but never fully take in how it works. I have accepted Jesus help in my life and now live by the power of God, even though I dont fully understand it all.

Those who wait for all their questions and doubts to be proved, befor accepting God, are like those who will only use electricity once they have shoved their fingers in the socket, for proof it exists.

God is for us!

Many people in the world today think that God is doing loads of terrible stuff and is against us most the time. This negative mindset of God prevents people actually building a relationship with God and getting to know a bit about who he really is.

I'm sure we all have our own picture of what God is like and sometimes this picture is not of a God who is helping us. We need to realise that GOD IS actually FOR US! God may not always do things as we would like them to be done in our life and we may frequently wonder why certain things are happening. We need to trust in God and trust that he knows whats good for us and follow his plans for us.

Luke 12 v 22 - 31 Jesus shares about how God looks after the birds and provides all they need and makes the flowers look awesome, and they dont have to worry about how it will happen, they just accept his provision and do what their designed to do.

We can learn a lot from this. Trust in God for all we need and in all the things that are going on in our lives. He will bless us with strength to get through, all we need to live, and joyfull times. Mans plans often fail but Gods plans always succeed.

God IS FOR US... trust in him and believe it. :-)

Pain & Suffering ??????

THE SHACK
In a world where religion seems to grow incresingly irrelevant THE SHACK wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

Over the next few weeks we will be reading through The Shack and raising this often difficult question about pain and suffering.

I have realised that the more I get to know God the less I understand his ways. Often we can try and get him in our little box of understanding but its impossible...... uneasy isn't it when we don't know whats going to happen, but thats why we have to trust in him and his promises and that he knows whats best for us. Join us on the journey as we share the struggles of life covered in glimpses of God.

Be blessed, Andy :-)

Dont let anyone kid you - LIFEs NOT ALWAYS EASY

Charles was a keen cartoonist but when his hope of breakthrough came at school, his cartoons were rejected. He didnt really do well at much else, failed a fair few of his subjects, useless at sports, to scared to try and get a girlfriend. Life wasnt looking that great and his only hope was shattered.

In Ecclessiastes 2 Solomon (one of the most wise people ever) talks about his search for happiness. He struggles to find true happiness in anything this world has to offer and concludes by encouraging us to find God and through him try to enjoy the happiness that does come our way.

Life really can suck and sometimes those happy moments are few and far between. Knowing God and following where he leads us can help our lives to have real purpose and be much less dull and boring. Persevere with what he gives you to do this year and be open and honest with it.... life can be tufff but its far easier sharing our struggles........

Charles continued drawing cartoons, they began to focus on his life and express his struggles and dissapointments. A while later they were noticed for their openness and honesty to life. Today he is well known as 'charlie brown' in peanuts.

Its amazing where just being yourself can get you, God made us the way he did for a reason.
